Satellogic's Growth and Challenges in Earth Observation Market
Satellogic, with 19 satellites, aims to capture a share of the $3.7 billion earth observation industry. Despite investor backing and a competitive cost structure, the company faces challenges in achieving revenue targets and market penetration.

Satellogic operates 19 satellites providing earth observation data, targeting the $3.7 billion industry, one-third of which is defense-related. The company has raised $145 million since April 2024, despite reporting $12.9 million in revenue for 2024.
Satellogic's satellites cost about $1.3 million each, providing a competitive edge over rivals. However, it has faced challenges with aggressive revenue projections and market competition, notably from Planet Labs, which has seen significant revenue growth.
Analysts suggest Satellogic needs to reach about $60 million in annual revenue to break even. The company has shifted its registration to Delaware to enhance its U.S. competitiveness.
