Scorpio Tankers Inc. will invest $10 million in AMPERA, Inc. to advance nuclear-powered maritime energy systems, focusing on floating power barges initially and extending to nuclear vessels later. Scorpio Tankers will act as the market lead, contributing expertise in marine engineering and regulatory compliance, while AMPERA will provide its micro-nuclear reactor technology.
This collaboration aims to address energy supply for offshore and remote operations and enhance port infrastructure. Financially, Scorpio Tankers holds a market cap of $3.49 billion and has reported a 104% growth in shares over the past year. Recent adjustments by BofA Securities reflect a positive earnings outlook, alongside agreements to sell two MR product tankers for $70 million, indicating a significant strategic pivot.
