Seapeak Orders Two LNG Carriers from Samsung Heavy Industries for $499M
Seapeak has ordered two LNG carriers from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for a total of approximately $499 million, with delivery expected by September 2028. This contract is part of a long-term relationship between Seapeak and SHI, which also includes five LNG carriers already scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The new vessels are backed by 10-year time charters with an unnamed international energy company. The order contributes to SHI's busy 2025, where it has secured 43 new vessels worth around $7.9 billion, achieving over 80% of its $9.8 billion order target for the year, including 11 LNG carriers. Seapeak operates a fleet of over 90 vessels, including around 50 LNG carriers.
