SEG Solar to Launch Heterojunction Module Production in the US by Q4 2026
SEG Solar plans to begin heterojunction module production in the US this year, with a new assembly plant opening in August 2026. The establishment of a 2GW solar cell processing facility is also underway, influenced by recent tariffs on Indonesian imports.

SEG Solar's second module assembly plant is scheduled to open in August 2026, initiating heterojunction module production in the US. A 2GW solar cell processing facility is under site selection, leveraging cells from Indonesia and later the Philippines due to current tariffs of 35.15% and 104.38% on Indonesian imports.
The company is also constructing a 3GW ingot and wafer plant in Indonesia, expected to start production by Q1 2027. Policy support beyond 2030 is crucial for potential US-based ingot and wafer manufacturing.
SEG Solar is prioritizing heterojunction technology to mitigate intellectual property risks associated with TOPCon. Challenges in procuring HJT equipment from China may impact competition as the US solar market evolves.
