Selenis to Double Production Capacity at Portalegre Facility by 2027
NATURAL GAS
Selenis will double the production capacity of its facility in Portalegre, Portugal, by the third quarter of 2027. This expansion focuses on bio-based, medical-grade, and circular co-polyesters in response to new EU packaging regulations mandating recyclable packaging by 2030.
The upgrade includes a continuous polymerization line to improve energy efficiency and reduce natural gas dependence, with most electricity sourced from an on-site solar park. The increased capacity will cater to food, healthcare, and textile industries aiming for lower carbon footprints. The project aligns with long-term decarbonization goals.
