Sempra Energy and Bechtel Sign EPC Contract for Port Arthur LNG Project in Texas
Sempra Energy's subsidiary Port Arthur LNG and Bechtel have signed a fixed-price EPC contract for the Port Arthur LNG liquefaction project in Texas. The agreement includes detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and operator training. The project aims for an initial capacity of approximately 13.5 Mtpa of LNG, with potential expansion capabilities. The project has received U.S. Department of Energy authorization for LNG exports and is contingent on securing customer commitments and financing.

Sempra Energy's subsidiary Port Arthur LNG and Bechtel Oil, Gas, and Chemicals signed an EPC contract for the Port Arthur LNG liquefaction project in Port Arthur, Texas. Bechtel will handle engineering, procurement, construction, and operator training.
The project will initially include two liquefaction trains and associated infrastructure, targeting a capacity of 13.5 Mtpa of LNG. There is potential for expansion to eight trains and 45 Mtpa. Sempra LNG has also signed an Interim Project Participation Agreement with Aramco Services Company and previously contracted with Polish Oil and Gas Company for LNG sales.
U.S. Department of Energy authorization for exports was received in May 2019, with further development dependent on customer commitments and financing.
