U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz visited Bowie County, Texas, to support the expansion of drone manufacturing at Red River Army Depot, which includes the SkyFoundry program and Advanced Automation Manufacturing project.
Legislation designating the depot for military drone production was enacted under the National Defense Authorization Act 2026. Cruz emphasized the importance of the depot for the Army's future drone capabilities, stating that military leaders are aware of the urgency for these developments.
Col. Denis Fajardo confirmed progress toward modernization goals at the facility. The expansion is expected to create jobs in the area and establish Red River as a primary location for drone production.
Additionally, Cruz presented the Department of the Army Civilian Police Officer of the Year Award to Sgt. CJ Yi for his exemplary service.
