Seongnam City to Re-request Height Restriction Easing from Ministry of National Defense
Seongnam City will re-request height restriction easing from the Ministry of National Defense after a meeting focused on addressing resident inconveniences near Seoul Airport. Following the rejection of three height proposals in September, the city has developed three revised proposals and aims to finalize its easing plan based on feedback from the recent meeting, with a re-request expected next month.

Seongnam City will re-request additional height restriction easing from the Ministry of National Defense following the completion report meeting for the '3rd Height Restriction Easing Plan Foundation Establishment Project' on the 23rd. The meeting aimed to address resident inconvenience due to height restrictions near Seoul Airport and discuss future easing plans based on aeronautical studies.
The city has faced redevelopment constraints under the 'Military Bases and Military Installations Protection Act.' In September 2023, Seongnam initiated a research project that resulted in five height easing proposals, two of which were accepted by the Ministry in June.
However, three proposals were rejected in September. In response, Seongnam has developed three revised proposals and plans to finalize the easing plan based on feedback from the meeting, with a re-request to the Ministry expected next month.
