Serco Celebrates 30 Years of Maritime Support to the Royal Navy
Serco Defence Maritime Services marks three decades of support for the Royal Navy, employing over 500 staff. The company operates nearly 100 vessels and has completed approximately 400,000 tasks since 1996, demonstrating significant contributions to naval operations.

Serco Defence Maritime Services has been supporting the Royal Navy for 30 years, currently employing more than 500 personnel across five UK sites and globally. The company operates nearly 100 vessels, having completed around 400,000 tasks since taking over in-port services in August 1996.
Key activities include harbour movements, fuel and waste transport, and support for military exercises. In 2007, Serco was awarded a 15-year contract by the Ministry of Defence, introducing 29 new vessels.
In October 2025, it began work under three Defence Maritime Services-Next Generation contracts, with plans to procure 24 additional vessels. The company has engaged over 518 small and medium-sized suppliers as part of its contracts, reflecting strong community ties.
