The Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency (SERDA) signed an agreement to begin the BIHREC project, Bosnia and Herzegovina's first renewable energy community, in Visoko. This initiative, in partnership with the Association for Green Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Sources (H2OIE) and Green Sustainable Solutions (GSS) from Croatia, will be funded by a regional program for energy community development in the Western Balkans.
The project aims to establish a local energy community that allows citizens and institutions to engage in renewable energy production and management. The first phase will establish the community and a planned photovoltaic plant, with initial members including local educational and social institutions. The project seeks to create a replicable model for other communities in BiH, supporting green transition efforts.
