SETAF-AF Enhances Operational Data Management through Innovative Team Initiatives
In February 2025, SETAF-AF established a tiger team that transformed its operational data management, improving decision-making and situational awareness for commanders. The team's innovative solutions and integration of machine learning techniques have set a precedent for future military operations and collaboration.

In February 2025, a three-member tiger team was initiated by the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) to enhance operational data management. The initiative replaced inefficient workflows with automated decision support tools, enabling real-time situational awareness.
Following an after-action review of joint task force operations, data silos were identified as a critical issue. The team's solutions have been adopted across U.S. Africa Command, demonstrating their impact.
By December 2025, demand for their services led to the formation of the Advanced Capabilities Directorate. The team will participate in the African Lion 26 exercise, collaborating with over 40 partners to validate operational capabilities. The focus on machine-human collaboration is essential for improving efficiency and decision-making across military operations.
