Shantou to Develop 1.2 Million kW Offshore Wind Farms by 2025 to Enhance Blue Economy
Shantou is advancing its offshore wind power sector to enhance the blue economy, with plans to complete three wind farms totaling 1.2 million kilowatts by the end of 2025. The city is establishing a comprehensive industrial chain, including a 'four-in-one' industrial park and dedicated port facilities, while also integrating wind power with aquaculture and hydrogen production. Additionally, Shantou will host the World Wind Energy Conference 2025 and aims to create a 100-billion-yuan new energy cluster focused on deep-sea wind power.

Shantou, located in eastern Guangdong, is accelerating its offshore wind power industry to boost the blue economy. By the end of 2025, three wind farms—Datang Nan'ao Lemen I, Huaneng Lemen II, and Datang Lemen I Extension—are set to be completed, totaling 1.2 million kilowatts in capacity.
The city is establishing a comprehensive offshore wind power industrial chain, including a pioneering 'four-in-one' industrial park for R&D, manufacturing, testing, and certification, along with advanced testing facilities. The construction of dedicated berths at Guang'ao Port is underway to support Southeast Asian exports.
Shantou is also integrating offshore wind power with aquaculture through the Shengtang No. 1 marine ranch and promoting applications like 'wind power + hydrogen production'. The city will host the World Wind Energy Conference 2025 and aims to build a 100-billion-yuan new energy cluster focused on deep-sea wind power.
