Shield AI Raises $2 Billion to Acquire Aechelon Technology in Defense Technology Expansion
Shield AI has raised $2 billion to expand its defense technology business, with plans to acquire Aechelon Technology, specializing in simulation software. This funding values Shield AI at approximately $12.7 billion, reflecting rising interest in defense tech. The firm generates about half of its revenue from international clients. The acquisition aims to enhance Shield AI's software development capabilities.

Shield AI has announced a $2 billion fundraising round aimed at acquiring Aechelon Technology, which specializes in simulation software for defense applications. This new capital will elevate Shield AI's valuation to around $12.7 billion, more than double its 2025 funding level.
Approximately half of Shield AI's revenue comes from international customers in Europe and Asia. The acquisition of Aechelon is expected to bolster Shield AI's software capabilities and provide extensive training data for its AI systems. Notably, the funding includes $500 million from Blackstone, which may increase to $750 million over time, alongside participation from JPMorgan's Security and Resiliency initiative.
