ROBOTICS

The Shoprite Foundation and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) launched a robotics lab at Siyifunile Secondary School in Dullstroom, Mpumalanga. The lab aims to enhance digital literacy and robotics skills for pupils, particularly those with technical abilities.

The initiative, revived after initial support from Exxaro in 2021, focuses on grades 8 and 9. It seeks to reduce dropout rates and open new career paths. The program is part of a broader strategy to expand access to digital education in underserved communities across South Africa, with previous rollouts in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape.
