Singapore's PUB to Develop 130MWp Floating Solar Farm by 2029

SOLAR ENERGY

Singapore's national water agency PUB plans to construct a 130MW-peak floating solar farm by 2029 to reduce its carbon footprint. This initiative aims to help the country achieve its solar capacity target of 2GWp by 2030, with current capacity falling 200MW short.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, pending environmental impact assessment feedback and final government approval. The new capacity estimate exceeds the PUB's previous projection of 100MWp for the site, which serves as a reservoir for flood control and rainwater collection.

Australian firm Aurecon is providing consultancy services, but a solar developer has not been named. Currently, Singapore has one operational reservoir solar project and two in development, all managed by Sembcorp, which holds a 25-year power purchase agreement with PUB for the existing 60MWp facility.
