The Sinomine Tsumeb Community Trust has announced a 12-hectare agricultural plot for rent in Stampriet, Hardap region, inviting applications from parties with relevant expertise. The farm includes six climate-controlled greenhouses for year-round crop production and two chicken coops capable of housing 8,000 chickens per cycle.
Additional amenities comprise staff quarters, office buildings, a borehole, and solar power. A mandatory site meeting for interested applicants is scheduled for June 12. Sinomine, a Chinese mining company, operates the Tsumeb smelter, which it acquired from Dundee Precious Metals in 2024.
The firm faces operational challenges due to market conditions. The successful applicant will pay a monthly rental fee.
