Sizewell C Achieves Final Investment Decision, Unlocks £38 Billion for UK's Clean Energy Project

In 2025, Sizewell C reached a significant milestone by achieving its Final Investment Decision (FID) in the summer, unlocking £38 billion in funding for the first majority British-owned nuclear power station in over 30 years. The project has engaged nearly 2,000 individuals in local careers fairs and signed a sustainability agreement to reuse over 15,000 tonnes of recycled concrete.

The Sizewell C Community Fund celebrated its first anniversary, distributing £3 million to local organizations. The workforce grew to almost 2,000, including around 100 apprentices. In November, Phase 1 of the Northern Park and Ride facility opened, with full operations expected in 2026.

Upcoming infrastructure improvements include new roundabouts and a permanent education campus, enhancing local education and job opportunities. A report from Oxford Economics predicts Sizewell C will significantly boost the East of England's economy.
