SK Ocean Plant Completes Final Security Assessment for U.S. Navy MSRA Acquisition
SK Ocean Plant announced on January 8 that it has completed the Port Security Assessment, the last step in acquiring the Master Ship Repair Agreement (MSRA) to engage in U.S. Navy warship maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations.
Official certification is anticipated within the first quarter of this year. The MSRA allows certified shipyards to participate in significant maintenance projects for Major Combatant Ships, while those without it can only handle limited work on non-combat vessels.
This assessment followed a previous audit by the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) in September 2024, which evaluated the shipyard's security systems and compliance frameworks. SK Ocean Plant has been recognized for its facility competitiveness and management standards. The company, designated by the Republic of Korea as a naval vessel construction defense industry company, has delivered over 30 vessels and is currently constructing follow-on ships of the Ulsan-class Batch-III frigate, slated for delivery between 2026 and 2027.
