Skapa JSAT to Launch 10 Low-Orbit Observation Satellites by 2028 with NTT Data and IHI Involvement
Skapa JSAT announced plans to invest approximately 40 billion yen to launch 10 U.S.-made low-orbit observation satellites by spring 2028. The satellites, measuring 1.3 meters in height and 2.8 meters in width, will operate in low orbit, allowing continuous imaging of specific regions during the daytime.
Skapa JSAT aims to sell these images to Japan's Ministry of Defense and private companies. In addition, NTT Data plans to launch eight low-orbit satellites after 2027, and IHI is collaborating with a British firm to establish an observation satellite network. The sector is seen as a promising market due to advancements in launch technology and the demand for clearer images.
