Slovenia Joins ESA, Expands Research in Space Physiology and Medicine
Slovenia's full membership in the European Space Agency grants it equal access to the European space ecosystem. Prof. Dr. Igor Mekjavić leads research at the Laboratory for Space Physiology, focusing on human physiology in space, heatwave impacts, and human protection in diverse environments, including collaborations with the Ministry of Defense. The Erasmus Mundus program attracts global students to study space medicine in Slovenia. Ongoing research highlights the effects of global warming on health and the importance of physical activity across all ages.

Slovenia has gained full membership in the European Space Agency, ensuring equal access to the European space ecosystem. Prof. Dr.
