Socarenam Delivers Eight EDA-S to French Navy for Amphibious Operations

DEFENSE

Socarenam has delivered eight EDA-S amphibious landing craft to the French Navy, part of a program initiated in December 2018. Originally set to provide 14 units, the delivery plan has faced delays, with the first two prototypes, Arbalète and Arquebuse, received in 2022.

Four additional units were delivered in 2023 (Bombarde and Javeline) and four more are scheduled for 2025 (Pertuisane, Glaive, Sabre, and Anne-Marie II). Two more units, Rapière and Hallebarde, are expected this year to complete the replacement of the old CTM craft.

The final two units, Dague and Mousquet, are planned for 2028, with Épée and Coutelas due in 2029. EDA-S units measure 28.8 meters long, 6.7 meters wide, and can carry 65 tons, accommodating heavy military vehicles. They feature improved speed and maneuverability compared to the older CTMs.
