Socomec Enhances North American Manufacturing for Data Center Demand
Socomec has launched two new manufacturing facilities in Georgia and Ontario to meet the increasing demand for data center infrastructure in North America. This expansion is a strategic move to bolster local production capabilities and support the anticipated growth in electricity demand from data centers driven by Artificial Intelligence workloads.
Socomec has inaugurated two manufacturing plants in Suwanee, Georgia, and Brampton, Ontario, to enhance its production capacity. The 194,000 sq. ft facility in Georgia will focus on Uninterruptible Power Supply systems and Static Transfer Switches, employing 300 staff and projected to be fully operational by early 2027.
The Brampton site, spanning 150,000 sq. ft, will produce high-efficiency transformers and Power Distribution Units, currently with 170 employees. With global electricity demand from data centers expected to double by 2030, this expansion aligns with the projected growth of the data center construction market, increasing from US$181.51 billion in 2025 to US$440.06 billion by 2035. Socomec's local manufacturing aims to enhance agility, reduce lead times, and strengthen relationships with North American clients.
