Solar Energy System Installed at Comedores Sociales Facility in Caguas
A new solar energy system at the Centro de Apoyo Mutuo in Caguas enhances energy reliability for community programs. This installation is crucial for reducing dependence on Puerto Rico's unstable power grid and ensuring food security during outages.

A solar energy system with 44 photovoltaic panels and 18 batteries has been installed at the Centro de Apoyo Mutuo of Comedores Sociales de Puerto Rico in Caguas, providing 36 kW of solar capacity and 120 kWh of storage. This setup ensures uninterrupted power for the facility's operations, which include food sovereignty and community support initiatives.
The project partners include Empowered by Light, Twende Solar, and Mutual Aid Disaster Relief, among others. The initiative aims to improve energy autonomy and resilience in response to Puerto Rico's frequent blackouts, thereby enhancing community infrastructure and services.
