SoldierStrong Announces 2026 SoldierScholar Recipients Supporting Veterans' Education
SoldierStrong has announced the recipients of its 2026 SoldierScholar program, aimed at assisting military veterans in pursuing higher education. Since 2012, the nonprofit has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships to help bridge funding gaps not covered by the post-9/11 GI Bill.
The program is available to veterans at Syracuse University, Georgetown University, and Old Dominion University who served in the Global War on Terror. Notable recipients include Kathleen Higgins, who graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Old Dominion, and Sean Kellas, who is pursuing a graduate degree while working in local defense. Past recipients have secured positions in various government and civilian roles, demonstrating the program's impact on veterans' academic and professional futures.
