Solidion Receives U.S. Army Grant for Fiber-Based Battery System with UTD

DEFENSE

Solidion Technology, based in Dallas, received a grant from the U.S. Army's STTR Program to develop a fiber-based electronic battery system using coaxial carbon nanotube yarn. Research will be conducted in partnership with the University of Texas at Dallas.

The grant amount was not disclosed. Solidion's technology features a flexible, rechargeable lithium-ion battery in fiber form, utilizing a carbon nanotube yarn as the anode core and integrating silicon for high capacity. This grant marks Solidion's third federal funding in six months, following previous grants for research on biomass-derived graphite and carbon-nanosphere material for nuclear reactors.
