Sonic Fire Tech Develops Infrasound Technology for Wildfire Defense

DEFENSE

Sonic Fire Tech, a startup by former NASA engineers, utilizes patented infrasound technology to extinguish wildfires, preventing ignition and providing waterless, chemical-free protection. The technology uses inaudible sound waves below 20 hertz, allowing for farther travel.

Interest has been expressed by homeowners and fire departments for integration with existing firefighting tools. Demo systems are set for March, and the company is working with nonprofits to fund testing of Sonic backpacks. Additionally, a pilot program is underway with Pacific Gas and Electric and a partnership with PCI Builders aims to implement the technology in over 5,000 homes post-certification.
