South Africa Delivers First Locally Built Unmanned Surface Vessel to Saudi Arabia
The Sea Serpent, South Africa's first locally designed and built unmanned surface vessel, has been successfully delivered to a Saudi Arabian client after completing extensive sea trials. Developed by Icarus Marine, Legacy Marine, and Noble Concentric Solutions, the vessel features advanced technologies, including autonomous navigation and various mission capabilities, making it versatile for military and non-military applications.

The Sea Serpent, the first unmanned surface vessel (USV) built in South Africa, has been delivered to a client in Saudi Arabia following successful sea trials. Designed by Icarus Marine, Legacy Marine, and Noble Concentric Solutions, the vessel is equipped with an electro-optic system, LRAD, and will have a remotely controlled weapon station installed in Saudi Arabia.
The 9.2-meter aluminum vessel, powered by a Volvo Penta engine, boasts a cruising speed of 25 knots and a range of 420 nautical miles. Its autonomous control, provided by the Voyager AI system, allows for advanced navigation and mission execution. Multi-mission capabilities and manual operation features enhance its adaptability for both military and civilian applications.
