South Korea and Qatar Discuss Expansion of Economic Cooperation in Defense and Energy
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone conversation to discuss enhancing economic cooperation in defense, energy, and infrastructure. Lee emphasized the need for continued support for Korean companies in Qatar, while Emir Tamim recognized South Korea's role in Qatar's national development. The leaders plan to meet in person soon to further strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership, established in 2023.

President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar discussed enhancing bilateral economic cooperation in defense, energy, and infrastructure during a phone call. This marked their second conversation since July 2022.
Lee expressed a desire to expand collaboration across various sectors, while Emir Tamim acknowledged South Korea's contributions to Qatar's national development within their comprehensive strategic partnership. Lee requested continued support for Korean companies in Qatar.
The leaders agreed to meet in person soon to further strengthen bilateral relations. South Korea and Qatar established diplomatic relations in 1974, upgrading them to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023. Qatar is South Korea's largest supplier of liquefied natural gas.
