South Korea Announces Nuclear Fusion Development Plan with AI Integration by 2035

South Korea's government aims to accelerate nuclear fusion technology with a new implementation plan for 2026, targeting a demonstration reactor by 2035. The Ministry of Science and ICT has allocated 112.4 billion won (approximately 86.5 million USD) for fusion technology development, marking a 56 billion won increase from the previous year.

Key projects include a 2.1 billion won initiative for designing an innovative fusion reactor and a 4.5 billion won investment in artificial intelligence to enhance plasma control, data analysis, and design simulations. South Korea plans to establish the Nuclear Fusion Innovation Alliance to facilitate collaboration among research institutes, universities, and industry.

Additionally, a 1.5 trillion won infrastructure program will support superconducting conductor testing and demonstrate fusion technologies. The country aims to build a comprehensive ecosystem for nuclear fusion advancements.
