South Korea Launches KAAV-II with 40mm CTA Turret and High-Speed Hull
The KAAV-II features a 40mm CTAS turret with over 4 km range, enhancing amphibious assault capabilities. Its design enables remote operation to minimize crew risk and allows for rapid deployment from offshore locations.

The KAAV-II is equipped with a 40mm CTA turret, achieving an operational range exceeding 4 kilometers, with superior armor penetration compared to medium-caliber weapons. Designed for amphibious assaults, the vehicle's high-speed planing hull facilitates rapid transit from offshore, extending the launch point beyond the reach of many coastal defenses.
The unmanned turret allows for remote operation, thereby reducing crew exposure. Additionally, it features a hydraulic suspension to navigate various terrains and can operate in differing tidal conditions.
Development has faced delays, notably after a fatal incident during testing in September 2023, impacting its visibility at industry exhibitions. This situation may affect future procurement and operational readiness.
