South Korea to Execute Undisbursed 2025 Defense Budget This Week
South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance will execute undisbursed portions of the 2025 defense budget this week, addressing approximately 1.3 trillion won (US$899 million) that was not allocated to military units and contractors by the year's end. The ministry is collaborating with the defense ministry and other agencies on this spending, which is backed by revenue collected by January 2, 2026.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance of South Korea announced that undisbursed portions of the 2025 defense budget will be executed this week. This decision follows the failure to disburse approximately 1.3 trillion won (US$899 million) in defense expenditures to military units and contractors by the end of 2025. The ministry is coordinating with the defense ministry and other relevant agencies regarding the spending, which is supported by 'January revenue,' referring to fiscal year tax and other revenue legally deposited by January 2, 2026.
