South Korean PM Kim Min-seok Visits KAI to Boost Defense Industry Competitiveness and Exports
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok visited Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) on December 7 to discuss enhancing South Korea's defense industry exports. The meeting, held in Sacheon City, included representatives from KAI, Hanwha Aerospace, Korean Air, LIG Nex1, and others.
Kim emphasized the importance of fostering a cooperative ecosystem among various defense companies and achieving the goal of becoming one of the top four global defense powers. He inspected the KF-21 Boramae production line, highlighting the potential of South Korea's defense capabilities.
Kim also held a policy briefing for KAI employees, addressing the economic rebound since early 2025 and the significance of competitiveness in the shipbuilding industry for tariff negotiations with the U.S. He called for the establishment of unique technologies and competitiveness in the defense sector to revitalize the economy and strengthen national defense.
