Spanish Firms Engage in €1 Billion EU Defense Projects
Spanish companies, including Indra, Navantia, and Telefónica, are key participants in 57 projects funded by the EU's European Defense Fund (EDF) 2025, totaling €1 billion. The involvement of multiple SMEs alongside larger firms signifies a collaborative approach to strengthening defense capabilities across critical sectors such as AI and cybersecurity.

Spain is represented in 57 projects under the €1 billion European Defense Fund (EDF) 2025, with significant contributions from firms like Indra, Navantia, and Telefónica. A total of 634 entities from 26 EU member states and Norway will receive funding, with 38% of participants being SMEs.
Projects include E-DOMINION, which aims to create a digital naval combat cloud, and ECC2, focused on cyber command solutions. Indra coordinates several initiatives including SPIDER2 for satellite constellations and FAMOUS3 for next-generation armored platforms. The projects collectively enhance military capabilities and interoperability across various domains, posing both opportunities and challenges for defense sectors.
