Chris DeWitt expressed concerns about Spire Development's housing project at 1155 Old Manchester Rd. in Chelsea during the city council meeting on Jan. 12. The site, a former landfill, requires additional testing per Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) due to potential methane and contaminants.

MSHDA advised against proceeding without recent soil evaluations. Community Development Director Paul Montagno confirmed the developer's commitment to further testing. No decision was made by the council regarding the property, with plans to internally review DeWitt's concerns.
