Springfield, Ohio, Partners for Advanced UAV Development Initiative
Springfield, OH, is collaborating with multiple organizations, including the U.S. Air Force Research Lab, to establish a robust UAV ecosystem. This initiative aims to enhance drone technology for both military and civilian applications, positioning the region as a key player in the future of aviation.

The City of Springfield, in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force Research Lab and other local and national entities, is developing a comprehensive Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) ecosystem. The initiative aims to create a hub for UAV research, production, and applications, supported by a skilled workforce from local educational institutions.
Currently, 1,200 manufacturing and supply chain operations are involved in UAV activities, with plans to expand the UAV fleet for various uses, including transportation monitoring and infrastructure inspections. The Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport is set to become a major drone flight center as it develops essential systems for safe UAV operations.
The region's rich aerospace history and existing workforce present significant opportunities for economic growth in the UAV sector. This collaborative effort may position Springfield as a national leader in UAV technology, attracting further investments and innovations.
