Under the leadership of Mindy Núñez Airhart, SSE has experienced growth in revenue and employment, while also pursuing national expansion and advocating for regional economic projects like the Louisiana International Terminal.

SSE is collaborating with Houston-based Persona AI to develop a humanoid welding robot for industrial fabrication, marking a significant advancement in automation for the company. SSE has invested in automation since 2016, beginning with the acquisition of a six-axis robotic beam line.
The new robot will utilize production data from SSE and be tested at their St. Bernard facility. Mindy Núñez Airhart, who took ownership in 2018, transitioned to the steel industry after Hurricane Katrina.
SSE has seen revenue and employee growth since implementing automation, countering initial concerns about job loss. The company is looking to expand nationally, focusing on various projects including LNG plants and commercial construction. Airhart is also an advocate for the Louisiana International Terminal project, seeing it as an economic opportunity for the region.
