Stanislaus County Sells Former Salvation Army Building to Visionary Home Builders for $1.5 Million
Stanislaus County has sold the former Salvation Army building in Modesto to Visionary Home Builders for $1.5 million, facilitating the development of the Seventh Street Village project, which will provide 79 affordable housing units. The county acquired the property in 2019 but deemed it unfeasible for development, incurring ongoing costs for maintenance. The sale allows Visionary to advance its project while helping the county recover its investment.

Stanislaus County supervisors approved the sale of the former Salvation Army property at 625 I St., Modesto, for $1.5 million to Visionary Home Builders of California. This nonprofit is collaborating with the City of Modesto on the Seventh Street Village project, which includes 79 affordable housing units.
The county acquired the property in 2019 but found it unfeasible for development, leading to ongoing costs for security and maintenance. The sale allows Visionary to pursue future development while enabling the county to recover its investment and reduce costs. The first phase of Seventh Street Village is set to begin construction soon.
