SteelAsia and Buskowitz Energy Launch Major Solar Project in the Philippines
SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp. and Buskowitz Energy are developing an 8-MW rooftop solar project at Compostela Works in Cebu. This initiative aims to enhance renewable energy use in the industrial sector and reduce carbon emissions significantly.

SteelAsia and Buskowitz Energy are collaborating on an 8-megawatt peak solar rooftop project, the largest of its kind in the Philippines, located at the Compostela Works facility. Targeted for completion in November 2026, the installation will consist of 12,888 solar panels across a 65,560 square meter roof area, generating approximately 12,000 megawatt-hours annually, fulfilling nearly 25% of the plant's power needs.
The project is expected to decrease carbon emissions by 8,400 metric tons each year, equating to the environmental impact of recycling over 73,000 tons of waste. Buskowitz Energy will oversee all project aspects, indicating a growing trend among Philippine industries to adopt solar energy for sustainability and energy security. This shift could pave the way for further large-scale renewable energy initiatives in the sector.
