Stellantis Halts Vauxhall Hydrogen Van Project Due to Infrastructure Limitations
Stellantis has announced the discontinuation of its Vauxhall hydrogen van project, citing limited hydrogen refuelling infrastructure and high capital requirements as primary reasons. The decision follows a previous statement indicating a winding down of new hydrogen van development due to insufficient prospects, with the company not expecting significant adoption of hydrogen fuel cell light commercial vehicles before 2030.

Stellantis, the parent company of Vauxhall, has announced the discontinuation of its hydrogen van project, citing limited hydrogen refuelling infrastructure as a key factor. The decision follows a statement made in July 2024 regarding the winding down of new hydrogen van development due to insufficient development prospects.
Stellantis emphasized high capital requirements and the necessity for stronger incentives for consumers as additional reasons for halting the project. The company does not anticipate significant adoption of hydrogen fuel cell light commercial vehicles before 2030.
