STMicroelectronics Expands Operations with €250 Million Investment in Malta
STMicroelectronics is expanding its manufacturing capabilities in Malta with a €250 million investment, establishing a new facility in Kirkop. This expansion is positioned to enhance Malta's role in the global semiconductor market, producing advanced microchips for various international sectors.

STMicroelectronics has received a new facility from INDIS as part of a €250 million investment aimed at bolstering Malta's semiconductor production. The facility, designed for advanced manufacturing, includes modern production spaces, cleanroom infrastructure, and automation technologies, and is expected to be completed soon.
This initiative, which began six years ago amid competition from other countries, is crucial for increasing Malta's value in high-tech manufacturing and aligns with the EU Chips Act. The project is part of the government’s Vision Malta 2050 strategy, aiming to attract high-value investments in sectors like digital innovation and artificial intelligence. The expansion reflects confidence in Malta's capabilities and the semiconductor industry's critical role in modern economies.
