Stony Brook and Redshred Win DTRA Contract for AI Radiation Safety Project RADIANT
Stony Brook University and Redshred have secured a Phase I STTR contract from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency to develop the Radiation AI Decision and Information Assistant for Nuclear Tasks (RADIANT), an AI-driven platform designed to enhance military operations and nuclear safety. Led by Principal Investigator Manoj Mahajan, the project aims to provide real-time radiation guidance, improving response times and accuracy in nuclear scenarios. This collaboration marks Stony Brook's first partnership with DTRA in over a decade and has potential applications in civilian sectors such as nuclear power and emergency response.

Stony Brook University and Redshred have received a Phase I STTR contract from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency to develop the Radiation AI Decision and Information Assistant for Nuclear Tasks (RADIANT). This AI-powered platform aims to enhance military operations and nuclear safety by providing real-time radiation guidance.
Principal Investigator Manoj Mahajan will lead the project, which integrates AI with health physics to support tactical units and nuclear inspections. This award marks Stony Brook's first collaboration with DTRA in over ten years.
The RADIANT system will interpret complex nuclear data similar to a trained expert, improving response times and accuracy. The project also aligns with DTRA's strategic initiatives and has potential applications in civilian sectors, including nuclear power and emergency response. The partnership highlights Stony Brook's commitment to innovative technologies addressing global challenges.
