Storm is set to build a 200 MW battery storage facility in Ruien, Belgium, using 180 lithium-ion battery containers for 800 MWh capacity. Groundworks will conclude by autumn 2026, with operations expected by autumn 2027. The project investment exceeds 100 million euros, with Elia connecting the site to the high-voltage grid.

The total investment for the project exceeds 100 million euros, and Elia will extend a cable to connect the facility to the high-voltage grid in Avelgem.
