Strata Expanse Opens AI Data Center in Haverhill, Ohio, Amid Local Controversy
Strata Expanse has inaugurated an AI Center of Excellence and data center in Haverhill, Ohio, marking the first of its kind in the state. The facility, located at 1476 County Road 1A, aims to support infrastructure for artificial intelligence and applications such as cryptocurrency and AI training.
The company plans to utilize hydrogen, natural gas, and solar energy, minimizing reliance on the local energy grid. Strata Expanse is collaborating with several partners, including RAVEL and Supermicro, and intends to hire locally.
However, local opposition is growing, with over 2,000 signatures on a petition against the data center. Community concerns were raised during an Ironton City Council meeting, prompting a joint discussion with Lawrence County Commissioners scheduled for January 8 to address residents' issues regarding the facility's establishment.
