Strive Masiyiwa, through Econet InfraCo, has launched a 100MW solar industrial park near Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare, aimed at improving Zimbabwe's energy security and attracting manufacturing. This project is part of a broader strategy that includes a 600MW floating solar plant on Lake Kariba and a renewed commitment to the 2,400MW Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme with Zambia, all designed to address chronic power shortages and enhance Zimbabwe's renewable energy capacity.

Strive Masiyiwa, through Econet InfraCo, is initiating a 100MW solar-powered industrial park near Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare, unveiled in December 2025. This 300-hectare project aims to enhance Zimbabwe's energy security and attract manufacturing businesses by providing reliable power and advanced connectivity.
The initiative is part of a phased implementation strategy, pending regulatory approvals. Also, Zimbabwe is pursuing a 600MW floating solar plant on Lake Kariba, set to start construction in Q2 2026, and has renewed commitment for the 2,400MW Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme with Zambia. These projects, alongside Masiyiwa's investments, aim to address chronic power shortages and foster industrial growth in Zimbabwe, enhancing its position in Africa's renewable energy landscape.
