Sudan's Burhan Calls for Neutralization of RSF to Achieve Peace, Proposes Turkey as Mediator

DEFENSE

Sudan Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdulfattah al-Burhan stated that lasting peace cannot be achieved without neutralizing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). In an interview with Turkish media, he emphasized the heavy toll of ongoing conflicts since April 2023, including thousands of deaths and significant material destruction from RSF attacks.

Burhan proposed Turkey's mediation, which was rejected by some parties, and expressed distrust toward the United Arab Emirates, claiming it supports the RSF. He asserted that military superiority lies with the Sudanese army, which has been restructured and strengthened.

Burhan reiterated that any proposed solutions would only postpone the crisis as long as the RSF exists. He also highlighted the importance of developing political and economic relations with Turkey, expressing gratitude for Turkish support.
