Susitna Hydroelectric Project Promises Low-Cost Energy Generation
The Susitna hydroelectric project offers a sustainable energy solution with a production cost below 1 cent per kWh for the next 120 years.

The Susitna hydroelectric project is expected to generate 600 MW of power at a cost under 1 cent per kilowatt-hour for the next 120 years. In comparison, Healy 1 and Healy 2 produce 28 MW and 60 MW, respectively, while Bradley Lake Hydro generates 120 MW at 4.6 cents per kWh.
The proposed Gold Creek Corridor, spanning 35 miles, will link the dam to the Fairbanks power grid. This project provides a consistent energy source, unlike solar and wind power which are intermittent. This development may significantly enhance energy reliability and cost-effectiveness in Alaska's energy landscape.
