SWCC and Faraday Factory Japan Partner for Superconducting Cables by 2030

SWCC Corp and Faraday Factory Japan LLC have entered into an agreement to develop superconducting cable systems for data centers, targeting commercial implementation by fiscal 2030. The collaboration will focus on creating compact superconducting cables that can carry high currents, addressing the challenges posed by conventional power cables, such as increased size and heat generation.
SWCC will oversee cable design, manufacturing, and installation, while Faraday Factory Japan will supply superconducting wire and related technologies. The initial phase includes building a demonstration line at SWCC's Sagamihara site. This development is significant as data centers globally adapt to increased electricity demands from AI workloads.
