The Swiss Army is awaiting a contract date to replace its M109 howitzers with the German KNDS Artillery Gun Module on the GDELS Piranha IV. The procurement of 32 systems and logistics vehicles was approved by the Swiss Parliament at the end of 2025.

The Swiss Army is pending a contract announcement for the replacement of its M109 155mm/47-calibre self-propelled artillery systems. In late 2024, the Swiss Army announced that the German KNDS Artillery Gun Module would be integrated onto the locally produced General Dynamics European Land Systems Mowag Piranha IV 8x8 vehicle. The Swiss Parliament approved the procurement of 32 systems along with logistics vehicles at the end of 2025, but the exact timeline for the contract remains unclear.
