Syntec Optics Receives Defense Order for Advanced Augmented-Reality Optics
Syntec Optics Holdings, Inc. has secured a new order to manufacture advanced optical components for augmented-reality displays that function in both daytime and nighttime combat conditions. The lightweight, high-clarity optics are designed for extended-reality prototypes to support U.S. warfighters in high-stress, long-duration missions.
This order builds on previous research and development funded by the U.S. Army, including a 2019 grant from the Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate to refine prism-making technologies. Syntec's optics will enable Micro-LED imaging through a visor, crucial for next-generation military display systems.
The company has made manufacturing advancements in 2024 to enhance lightweighting, clarity, and scalability. The defense AR and VR market is projected to grow from USD 1.68 billion in 2025 to USD 4.34 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 20.9%.
