Taiwan Secures US Arms Deals Exceeding NT$208 Billion
Taiwan has formalized six arms procurement agreements with the US valued at over NT$208 billion (US$6.58 billion). These agreements encompass long-range precision strike systems and missile replenishment, contributing to Taiwan's defense strategies and budget negotiations amidst political scrutiny.

Taiwan signed six letters of acceptance for arms procurements amounting to NT$208.77 billion from the US, covering various military systems. The agreements include NT$123.5 billion for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and NT$73.89 billion for M109A7 Paladin howitzers, among others.
This procurement is expected to support the passage of Taiwan's NT$1.25 trillion defense budget stalled in the Legislative Yuan. The budget includes significant allocations for air defense systems, which are crucial under the 'Taiwan Shield' defense initiative. The integration of US military technologies with local systems is anticipated to enhance Taiwan's defensive capabilities against potential regional threats.
